Change orders that make it onto the invoice
A client asks for more work. You write the change order right there, and it stays on the job, pending, until you bill it or cancel it. The extra work is on the job when you build the invoice.
Write it on the spot
Add a description, an amount and notes from the job page. Adding a change order takes the Pro plan or higher.
Know what is pending and what is billed
Each change order is pending, billed or cancelled. The job shows one running total for the additional work to charge.
You mark a change order billed yourself. When you build the invoice, your change orders are there: a cancelled one stays off, and one sent for signature shows up once it is signed.
Cost-plus jobs: your client signs from a link
On a cost-plus job you can send a change order for signature. Your client opens a link with no login, types their full legal name, ticks two boxes (one to sign electronically, one to say they read it) and signs. The signing page comes in English or Spanish, and your client can download a signed copy.
After you send it, its description, notes and amount can't be edited in the change order list. For a change, the app has you make a new change order. A change order sent for signature can be marked billed once it is signed.
Your client can see it too
Share a job's client link and your client opens a statement with no login. It shows the contract, the change orders that count, payments received and the balance outstanding. On a cost-plus job it shows the agreed budget with the changes included, the cost of the work and the builder fee.
Questions
Which plan has change orders?
Adding a change order takes the Pro plan or higher.
Can my client sign a change order?
On a cost-plus job, yes. You send a link, and your client types their full legal name, ticks two boxes and signs from the link, with no login.
Does a change order get billed by itself?
No. It stays pending until you mark it billed or cancel it. One sent for signature can be marked billed only after it is signed.
Can I edit a change order after I send it for signature?
Not its description, notes or amount in the change order list: those are locked once it is sent. For a change, the app has you make a new change order.
Can my client see change orders?
Yes, in the statement you share. On a regular job it lists the change orders that count: a cancelled one is left off, and one sent for signature shows once it is signed. On a cost-plus job the changes are included in the agreed budget.
